Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU) is the first university established by the Delhi Government under the provisions of the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University Act, 1998. Its sprawling campus is nestled in the Dwarka area of the capital – an ideal location for a university which has the explicit objective of facilitating and promoting “studies, research and extension work in emerging areas of higher education with a focus on professional education”. The university, recognised by the University Grants Commission (UGC), offers a myriad of courses including law, engineering, technology, management studies, medicine, pharmacy, nursing, and education.
